S&P Global and DTS partner on research project on AI in SupTech

We are pleased to announce a strategic research partnership between S&P Global Ratings and Digital Transformation Solutions. This collaborative initiative will produce a research report examining the practical deployment of artificial intelligence and generative AI in financial supervision. As financial supervisors worldwide navigate the opportunities and challenges of AI adoption, this research responds to the growing need for responsible exploration and operationalization of AI solutions while balancing innovation with accountability, explainability, and risk management. Recent data from the State of SupTech Report reveals the scale and momentum of this transformation: • 60% of financial authorities are exploring or piloting AI tools to enhance supervision, with 33% prioritizing research and 27% piloting specific projects. • 19% of surveyed agencies report early generative AI experimentation—more than doubling from 8% in 2023. • Despite this momentum, most authorities remain in early stages, with only a fraction having deployed agency-wide AI solutions. The research will: • Map real-world use cases of AI and generative AI deployed or piloted by financial authorities globally. • Integrate insights from the SupTech Lab's solutions database, State of SupTech Report, and curated external sources including international surveys and guidance by multilateral organisations and standard-setting bodies, case studies, and stakeholder interviews. • Analyze key risks, challenges, and institutional readiness factors affecting AI adoption in supervisory contexts. • Identify the capability gap between financial supervisors and leading financial firms in AI development and adoption, and explore what it will take for supervisors to close this gap. • Provide forward-looking perspectives on how AI might transform financial supervision in the future, including key technological, operational, and governance considerations. ⸻ This partnership reflects DTS's commitment to advancing evidence-based research that supports financial authorities in navigating complex technological transformation. By combining rigorous analysis with practical insight, we aim to equip supervisors worldwide with the knowledge needed to harness AI responsibly and effectively. We look forward to sharing the findings of this critical research initiative in the months ahead. — DTS Executive Team
