About Sonia Arenaza Throughout her career, Sonia has focused on making financial innovation practical—ensuring new technologies can be trusted, supervised, and deployed at scale, particularly in contexts where governance and inclusion are paramount. Her work bridges policy, technology, and operational execution, bringing a systems-level perspective to every engagement. Milestones include: • Current advisory roles with CGAP and IDB Lab, where she shapes policy and implementation strategies for financial inclusion and digital innovation across emerging and frontier markets. • Founder and leader of Inclusive Innovations, focused on ensuring new financial technologies are not only innovative but usable, supervisable, and equitable in diverse regulatory and market environments. • Former senior policy roles at BNY and Meta, where she helped design digital assets and payments frameworks, including work on stablecoins, tokenized assets, and global payment systems at institutional scale. • Seven years at Accion, working across Latin America, Africa, and Asia on the operational realities of financial inclusion, digital delivery channels, and responsible innovation in practice. • Extensive experience in global governance and infrastructure policy through roles at the United Nations Office at Geneva, the International Telecommunication Union, and the General Secretariat of the Andean Community. • Academic and technical grounding from the National University of Engineering, complementing her applied expertise with rigorous analytical foundations. • Advisory board member for mission-driven fintechs including Kshetra PBC and Wellthi, bringing practical innovation insights to purpose-led ventures.
