On April 10, 2026, Digital Transformation Solutions (DTS) and Columbia University's Center for Digital Finance and Technologies co-hosted the first of a series of invite-only roundtables on AI in fintech, regtech, and suptech, bringing together approximately 40 senior practitioners, regulators, and researchers at Duane Morris' offices in New York City. We thank all speakers and attendees for their candid contributions, as well as Duane Morris LLC for hosting us. The session opened with remarks from Agostino Capponi (Columbia University), Simone di Castri (DTS), and Mauro Wolfe (Duane Morris), followed by a keynote from Michael J. Hsu, former Acting Comptroller of the Currency, who framed the systemic stakes: where AI-driven financial infrastructure is adding genuine resilience, where it is concentrating risk in less visible ways, and what supervisors should be prioritising. An industry roundtable heard from practitioners across four verticals: payments and commerce, B2B platforms and infrastructure, fintech operations and risk, and consumer finance. A central theme was the speed of the shift from AI as a human support tool in 2024 to autonomous agent execution in 2026 — a transition that existing risk management frameworks were not designed to handle. Participants highlighted data governance as the foundational gap: without clean data taxonomy and traceability, AI deployment at scale risks amplifying errors rather than eliminating them. A public and policy perspectives segment examined the regulatory gap. Federal supervisory capacity has stalled, with a significant talent exodus from agencies and a growing skills asymmetry between industry and regulators. The roundtable feeds into a second session on May 1, focused on compliance, regtech, and suptech.
