Saket Kumar, Assistant General Manager, Department of Regulation

Saket Kumar is one of the 12 members of the 2025 cohort of the Innovation Leaders Residency.

Saket is an Assistant General Manager of the Department of Regulation at the Reserve Bank of India, where he has been focusing on fostering ecosystems for green finance and sustainable finance in the Indian financial markets. Saket builds on previous experiences in the Risk Monitoring Department, Department of Banking Supervision and Department of Currency Management – growing his expertise in risk management and portfolio management from various perspectives.

During his residency, Saket is working on the development of a state-of-the-art macro-prudential policy tool. Its aim is to bring objectivity and foresight to an area that has traditionally been subjective for many central banks. The envisioned tool will help visualize and assess risks across banks, NBFCs, cooperative banks, and local banks, while also mapping their interconnectedness with other key financial market segments, including equity, money, and currency markets. Using AI and machine learning, this project will enable supervisors to shift from backward-looking diagnostics to forward-looking risk assessments.

Over the course of the Residency year, Innovation Leaders gain online support for the enhancement of their skills and competencies, and assistance in taking their projects to the next level, whether they are focusing on implementing the digital transformation of their business unit or on driving the development of a cutting-edge suptech application.
