Martha Hailemarian Asrat, Senior Advisor to Vice Governor, Financial Institutions

Martha Hailemarin Asrat is one of the 12 members of the 2025 cohort of the Innovation Leaders Residency.

Martha is the Senior Advisor to the Vice Governor for Financial Institutions Supervision at the National Bank of Ethiopia where she chaired and served on technical and steering committees for several projects, such as the National Digital Payment Strategy and the Innovative Finance Lab. Her leadership on regulatory sandboxes and cross-sectoral collaborations have enhanced Ethiopia’s financial ecosystem.

During her Residency, Martha is developing data strategies to automatise the development of her institution’s consolidated 'Financial Sector Growth Report' leveraging innovative data collection techniques and APIs.

Over the course of the Residency year, Innovation Leaders gain support for the enhancement of their skills and competencies, and assistance in taking their projects to the next level, whether they are focusing on implementing the digital transformation of their business unit or on driving the development of a cutting-edge suptech application.
