Carine Bastos is one of the 12 members of the 2025 cohort of the Innovation Leaders Residency, during which she will be leveraging innovative public sentiment analysis to address climate-related and environmental risks.

As ESG Supervision Specialist and Advisor at the Banco Central do Brasil with over 26 years of experience in telecom, technology, and financial supervision, Carine has been instrumental in positioning the Central Bank of Brazil as a leader in integrating hashtag ESG considerations into supervisory frameworks. Carine has contributed to global ESG supervision frameworks through her leadership in the Network for Greening the Financial System (NGFS) and FSB Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) where her efforts have significantly shaped international climate and environmental risk management practices. Carine also serves on the Toronto Centre Advisory Board and contributes to the ESG curriculum as part of the Cambridge SupTech Lab SupTech Frontiers course.

During her Residency year, Carine is developing a tool to enhance ESG oversight by employing advanced data analytics and natural language processing to map public sentiment and reputational risks linked to social, governance, and environmental concerns.

Over the course of the Residency year, Innovation Leaders gain online support for the enhancement of their skills and competencies, and assistance in taking their projects to the next level, whether they are focusing on implementing the digital transformation of their business unit or on driving the development of a cutting-edge suptech application.
